HIGHLIGHTS
"Ecuador is a must-go! Out of the different trips we have taken, I feel we saw so much of this amazing country with getting to visit three different regions. And all three were favorites. Never did I think I would get to go to the Amazon, the Andes Mountains and the Galapagos islands...and not only to do fun touristy things...but to run some badass trails too! If you're thinking about it, just say yes!!"
Nyky Wilson, November 2024

WHAT TO
EXPECT
Ecuador unfolds across three extraordinary worlds: the soaring Andes, the lush Amazon, and the enchanted Galápagos Islands. In the Andes, snow-capped volcanoes tower above vibrant highland towns, where cobblestone streets, colorful markets, and ancient traditions reflect the heart of the nation. To the east, the Amazon reveals a realm of dense rainforests, winding rivers, and unparalleled biodiversity - a place where nature and Indigenous wisdom exist in harmony.
Far off the coast, the Galápagos Islands offer a living museum of evolution, with unique wildlife and otherworldly landscapes found nowhere else on Earth. Exploring Ecuador means crossing continents in a single journey - embracing adventure, culture, and natural wonder at every turn.

Traditional Music & Dance
Ecuador’s folklore reflects its blend of Indigenous, African, and Spanish roots. In festivals across the Andes and coast, pan flutes, charangos, and drums create melodies that honor the land and its people. Andean rhythms like Sanjuanito celebrate community and tradition, while Afro-Ecuadorian Bomba and Marimba beats pulse with joy and resilience.
These dances and songs keep Ecuador’s spirit alive, uniting generations in color, rhythm, and pride.

Cultural Roots
Ecuador’s culture is deeply rooted in Indigenous heritage, Spanish colonial influence, and the country’s striking geography - from the Andes and Amazon to the Galápagos Islands. In the highlands, Quechua traditions endure through weaving, festivals, and music that celebrate the rhythms of the land.
Across Ecuador, the connection to nature and ancestry runs deep - seen in colorful markets, sacred rituals, and a shared pride that unites its diverse peoples.

DAY 1
Fly into Quito (UIO)
Welcome presentation and dinner
Optional shake out run on Quito Metropolitan Park
Welcome to Quito, Ecuador
When you land in Quito, our team will be ready to introduce you to the second highest city in the world! We'll organize shuttles from the airport to our first night's hotel.
Together, we'll acclimate to life 9,350 feet above sea level as we prepare for our first journey into the mountains. In the evening, enjoy dinner and drinks at our welcome event where you'll meet the local team and review the week's upcoming adventures!
If you arrive early in the day: Join us for an optional afternoon run around Quito Metropolitan Park. This park is loved by local Ecuadorians and features views of the sprawling city. It's a great way to meet some of your fellow travelers and stretch those legs after a day of travel.

Into the Mountains of Ibarra
We’re off to the Andes! After breakfast at the hotel, we’ll make a quick stop at the iconic Middle of the World monument, where you’ll have a chance to stand on the equator and snap a few photos. From there, we’ll continue our drive into the mountains toward Cuicocha Lagoon, a stunning blue crater lake nestled high in the Andes, where we’ll kick off our first run of the day. You might want to take it easy - not just to soak in the incredible views, but because we’ll be running at an altitude of nearly 9,000 feet above sea level!
Afterward, enjoy a group lunch in the town of Cotacachi. In the afternoon, take it slow and explore the town at your own pace - visit the local leather shops and artisan markets! Dinner is included and will be served at the Hotel Colonial Galerias.

Run the Inca Historic Trade Route and Visit the Community
Grab a nourishing breakfast at the hotel before we head to one of our longest runs of the week, the Chasqui Trail. This historic trade route predates the Inca and moved everything from news to coca. Now, it's a world-famous running destination!
When your legs and lungs have had their fill, we'll sit down for lunch and traditional Caranqui music and dance performances led by the community of San Clemente. These local people have carried on a traditional way of life in the mountains that spans generations.
In the late afternoon, enjoy free time at the hotel grounds or spa. This is a great time to book a massage after completing those tough high altitude runs! We’ll have dinner as a group at the hotel.

Flight from Quito to Isla Isabela
Isla Isabela
Off to the Galápagos Islands
Rise and shine! A breakfast box will be ready for you before our early morning flight. Upon arrival in the Galápagos, we’ll travel by boat to Isabela Island - one of the youngest and most volcanic islands in the archipelago. Lunch will be served during our journey.
After a day of travel, you’ll settle into your hotel just meters from the ocean, surrounded by the sounds of nature on this remote, wildlife-rich island. Dinner will be served at the hotel.
Note: Today's flight is covered and included. You do not need to book a ticket.

El Mango Trail
Isla Isabela, EC

Today, we’ll start early to avoid the heat with a scenic run on the El Mango Trail, offering beautiful views of the rolling green landscape.
After the run, we’ll slow down our pace with a relaxing eco-lunch, where you can connect with the island's tropical forest and even spot the iconic Giant Tortoise. The evening will be free for you to explore the downtown area of the island. The local team will give you recommendations. Don’t miss enjoying a refreshing sundowner from the hotel to watch no doubt a beautiful sunset over the ocean

Sierra Negra Volcano Tour
After breakfast, we’ll embark on an immersive volcanic tour! Don’t worry, we won’t be taking you into the heart of an active volcano. Instead, we’ll explore the area around the Sierra Negra volcano, offering stunning views of Isabela Island. Along the way, we’ll also have the opportunity to visit a sulfur mine.
After finding lunch on our own in town (tip - check out the local brewery!), we'll meet outside our hotel for a sunset run.

Snorkeling in the Galápagos
We're mixing things up today! Instead of a morning run, we start the day with an incredible snorkeling activity at Los Túneles. Here, the lava flows have created tunnels that house unique marine organisms like the Marine Iguana, Fur Seals, Galapagos Sealion and Penguin, Green Sea Turtles, the famous Blue-footed Booby, and you might even spot sharks and rays and a Darwin Finch!
Dry off and enjoy lunch before our optional afternoon run or bike to Muro de las Lagrimas. Some say this area might be haunted... Boo! We'll have a group dinner afterwards to bid farewell to the islands.
