Traditional Music & Dance
South Africa’s folklore captures the rhythm and diversity of its many cultures, where storytelling, music, and dance have long been expressions of identity and resilience. Traditional drumming and mbube choral harmonies echo through townships and villages, blending Zulu, Xhosa, and Sotho roots with modern influences.
Dance tells the stories of history and hope - whether in energetic gumboot performances or graceful traditional movements shared at festivals. Across the nation, gatherings brim with color, song, and the warmth of ubuntu - the belief in shared humanity and community.

Cultural Roots
South Africa’s culture is a vibrant mosaic born from Indigenous heritage, colonial influences, and the unifying spirit of a modern nation. The traditions of the Zulu, Xhosa, Sotho, and San peoples meet European, Indian, and Malay elements to create a richly diverse identity.
From the rhythm of tribal drums to the aroma of Cape Malay spices and the artistry of beadwork and storytelling, each region expresses its own voice. At its heart lies ubuntu - the philosophy of shared humanity—shaping how South Africans connect, celebrate, and honor their roots across landscapes as varied as the people themselves.

Table Mountain via Platteklip Gorge Hike
Cape Town, South Africa
Looking At Cape Town From The Heights, Table Mountain Hike
When in Cape Town, it feels like Table Mountain is always quietly watching over you…calling out to you. And we will heed this call by climbing to the Table via Platteklip Gorge and look down on the city and sea below. This climb is challenging, all the more reason to take breaks and enjoy the experience. We will go along the edge of the table to the highest point, Maclear’s Beacon – before returning on the other side of the table to the cable station. We will have lunch on top of Table Mountain, before descending via the cable car. A morning of 360 degree views and photo settings hard to match anywhere in the world.
The afternoon is free for you to explore our base, the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront – harbour cruises, markets, shops and informal performances await.

DAY 3
Chapman's Peak Scenic Drive, Cape Point and penguin viewing, surfing at Muizenberg
Cape of Good Hope
Cape Town, South Africa
Cape Point, Penguins And Surfing
We begin our day with the stunning coastal drive past the 12 Apostles and over the epic Chapman’s Peak Drive, continuing along the Peninsula through the Cape Point Nature Reserve to the dramatic cliffs the lighthouse perches atop. We will hike from the Cape of Good Hope all the way to the Lighthouse, breathtaking views with striking drop offs. Then, it's off to view the delightful African Penguins at Boulders Beach, the only penguin species found on the African continent.
Our day’s adventuring continues with going surfing at Muizenberg Beach, which holds the Guinness World Record for most surfers on a single wave! Muizenberg is the ideal place to be introduced to surfing. We'll get a lesson and spend time practicing in the waves. If you prefer to just enjoy the beach, you can do that or take a walk on the seaside path to the St James tidal pool. Tonight, the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront is your culinary playground, for a truly world-class dining experience on your own or with some new travel friends.

DAY 4
Langeberg culinary experience, dinner at waterfront
Langeberg Meander
Knysna, South Africa
Langeberg Meander And The Garden Route
Rise and shine! We will have a packed breakfast and are hitting the road early! We are going on the Langeberg Meander. Langeberg means Long Mountain, and we will drive through a long mountain to get there, literally! Our route takes us through the Cape Winelands and into the 2.5 mile long Huguenot Tunnel! We’ll emerge to stunning peaks either side as we make our way past more wine farms to the Langeberg. We are going to run through vineyards and working farms, before getting to sample the produce of the region. We'll get a true South African culinary experience as we taste our way through wines, cheeses, olives, snails...ice cream, the list goes on! All produced right there in Langeberg.
Then onwards to the Garden Route and our next destination, Knysna. A quaint and historic coastal town surrounding the lagoon that enters the sea through the infamous Knysna Heads. After checking into our hotel on the waterfront, a seafood feast awaits with a stunning view over the lagoon, giving us a sense of the run that awaits us tomorrow.

DAY 5
Boat cruise, Featherbed Nature Reserve
Featherbed Nature Reserve
Plettenberg Bay, South Africa
Knysna Heads and Featherbed Nature Reserve
This morning we'll enjoy breakfast at the hotel before heading out for our run, with the start being only a hundred metres away. We will cross the Knysna lagoon on a railway line, before heading along the shoreline towards the Knysna Heads. Depending on the tide, we could be high and dry or knee deep in some sections. South Africa is, after all, the adventure destination.
When we get to Featherbed Nature Reserve, we'll enjoy a short but dramatic climb up to the views from the Western Head, before dropping down to the cave at the water’s edge. We’ll follow the path along the side of the lagoon, before finishing at a private beach where we can swim in the open waters! Short route runners and walkers will just do the Featherbed Reserve section.

DAY 7
Beach time, seal colony excursion
Robberg (Hike)
Plettenberg Bay, South Africa
Seal Mountain and Seal Boat Tour
Our morning hike in the Robberg Nature Reserve takes us high above the coastline, down to the beach and even around an island. Robberg means ‘seal mountain’, and seals you will most definitely see from the cliffs that you walk, there are somewhere between 6 and 10 thousand of them in the marine protected area.
After lunch and a beach swim, we'll charter a boat out to the seal colony that we looked down on a few hours before! It is an incredible feeling to watch them playfully leaping their way off the cliffs into the water, and swimming inquisitively around the boat. And we have an awe inspiring perspective, looking way up at the path we were on a few hours before.

calamari tasting
Bloukrans Pass
Plettenberg Bay to Cape Saint Francis, South Africa

There are a lot of truly stunning runs in South Africa, but you’ll go far to find a more unique running experience anywhere in the world.
Having traversed the Bloukrans River Gorge via the old road pass, we move on to the nerve testing challenge of walking under the Bloukrans Bridge scenic and gravity defying walk Skywalk. The 216 meter drop off to the river below is tangibly presented under your feet, unparalleled views of the Bloukrans River Gorge. Our thrill-seekers can also upgrade to leap off the bridge, the world’s 4th highest bungee jump!
